December 31, 2006, 12:00 am Hi guys - bloody spammers have spread to the contact me forms so I have said enough is enough - i'm giving the site a bit of a shakeup code-wise - it won't change the appearance any (hopefully) but while I'm fixing it, the site may take notions of not working - sorry about that - i'll let you know when it's finished...
October 27, 2006, 12:00 am It's just one thing after another! this year at uni is seriously hectic! Took some time out there now though to try and fix the problem with everybody spamming the guestbook! Hopefully this will at least slow the onslaught! The change is in the way in which the verification code is being printed. Sorry no new reviews yet but they will come in their tens very soon (believe it or not) in preparation for the greatest console to date (I'm sure) - the Wii! It's about time somebody put fun and originality back into gaming! I really can't wait! It provides the opportunity to play snes games online legitimately! Now THAT'S innovation, as well as a refreshing alternative to "ooohh - lets make the games all super smooth and realistic". Bomberman didn't need that. And the worms series has proven that the transition to 3D should not always be embraced with open arms! Anyway, hopefully I'll not get spammed any more (I'm sent an e-mail every time one of you guys sign the guestbook!)
April 30, 2006, 12:00 am I really cant wait to get my hands on this after the exams are over. Just so you guys know, I've also bought a few other domains which I may well be plugging later on in the year. Ideas include an online proxy service, a free software site (none of that shareware crap), and a shameless, money making site (I'm just curious to see if it works). The domains I bought are freewebproxy.co.uk, hippysoftware.co.uk and cashtalks.co.uk ( well I think they're cool! ;) ). I was also thinking of some kind of file sharing system which people could use, similar to i-drive. I know the market is saturated but I think there's always room on the internet for somebody who wants to do anything for free :). Also submitted by final farewal to snesreviews.lycos.co.uk today as I put up the big far "we have moved" speil. I wish I could say I was sorry but after all, they are the ones who booted be off the top spot on google :(. I havent gotten a test to see if everything is 110% working but in about a month, everything will be working with interest! until next time, folks. p.s. If you would like to advertise on this site, click on the little link on the left saying Advertise Here - the folks there will set you up. I quite like the work ethic they seem to have been founded on. They are also the suppliers of the pretty new links up above (if you don't like the colour, let me know).
April 27, 2006, 12:00 am Guestbook is not operational - if any of you guys are watching, please sign it to let me know :).
April 20, 2006, 12:00 am Been a while... The site has now been resurrected with a new host! hurrah! Also went to the bother of buying the snesreviews.co.uk domain which should hopefully start forwarding to here soonish! Nobody will see this as of yet because I haven't oficially moved yet. Reason for moving is that lycos messed about so much with ads, popups and frame that I stopped getting listed in google and my hits went to hell. For this reason, I have moved servers. I have also written reviews that haven't been uploaded yet and are unlikely to be uploaded until after my exams - at which point I will upload like crazy! After all, I need to jump on the bandwagon for when the SNES classics are playable again on the new Nintendo console! So the page will sit silently here for a while until I have tested out most of the stuff here to see if it works on the new server, then I will put it on google and hopefully it's re-rise to glory will begin! Plan is: - Get the site working the way it was before
- Give the site a bit of a cleanup - maybe (gasp) introduce a font that isn't times new roman.
- Get a new forum up and running - the last site used lycos' forum
- Set up a mailing list so those who are really keen can be told when updates have happened, people have replied to their threads etc
- Write loadsa new reviews to give the site more beef
- Give the site a structural overhal - maybe changing its appearence a little bit again (although I like it the way it is!)
So wish me luck guys - with uni and work, I'm gonna need it :)
June 24, 2005, 12:00 am Yup - the site is still alive. Just been really lazy the past while but you can expect a few reviews in the next few weeks as I seem to have finally run into some free time. Feel free to submit your own though at will! I also need to let everybody know what I have just found out today. We have this fantastic sport in Ireland called "Gaelic Football" and it looks like somebody is finally making a video game about it!! This is my dream come true because I love the sport and I think this could do great things to promote it worldwide, so tell everybody you know to go get the game or at least look into the sport! Sadly the game is only available on the PS2 but luckily I have one! You can pre-order the game here or you can go to the manufacturer's official website here. Primary reason for this is promotion of Gaelic Football (it's an amateur sport and I'm getting no money for hits or anything) - give it a look! And don't be afraid to tell other people about it!
March 10, 2005, 12:00 am New Section time!! Just added a page which will list the most recent 5 comments about every game so it's easier to keep your finger on the pulse about when comments about games are being submitted so you can quickly launch your revenge attack! Check it out! (go on!!) Menu will be added shortly, the section is called Recent.
January 22, 2005, 12:00 am A new section has just been born where I have authored instructions on how to turn your PC into a fully working SNES! (please confirm that you own the original game before you go playing the rom, or else ensure that you only play non-commercial demos). You may find the document here. In addition to this, as you can see above my website has finally been accepted into a webring (woohoo!) so if you would like to see other classic retro sites, use the navigation listed above. Please submit any information you deem relevant to me via the listed means and enjoy your SNES!
January 1, 2005, 12:00 am A new year brought in with the good will of Flame and MKFan who have kindly provided the site with two more reviews for King of Dragons and Mortal Kombat 3 respectively! Sorry I don't have pics up for it guys - im currently working on a way to allow people to submit their own bloody pictures via a form :). I have played through yoshis island and i am currently trying to put it's genius into words so that will be up on the site shortly. I'm also going to start requesting reviews for specific games so you guys can go to work on something in particular! this time the requested game is... Vortex - the game that uses the FX chip which a lot of people think is crap - go on - someody let me know what they think! :).Thanks so much for your contributions guys, it is greatly appreciated :-D.
October 18, 2004, 12:00 am God it's been ages from I've done an update on this site! Worst of it is that I have loads of stuff written, I just haven't gotten around to updating it - seems work is a little more time consuming than I first thought! So once again this update has had to be done quite late in the night in the knowledge that I've got a 7:30 start :(. Anyway, I've written a review for Hal's Hole in One Golf and a thousand vastest appreciations are also extended to Pete "Cruserweight" Savonen for his tremendously detailed review for what he considers to be the best Wrestling game ever released for the SNES, Namely Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium. My sincerest thanks for the review and long may they continue coming in :).
August 8, 2004, 12:00 am Just back from Spain on my holidays and I've already got a review up for you people! Well it was already written - I just had to type it up and take a couple of screenshots. The game is Q-Bert and it can be found here for those who wish to see it. Also working on putting together a date on the feedback forms so you guys know that a lot of the entries are actually recent and haven't just been lying here for ages! Gonna have to slim down thie index page 2 - gonna have to start an archive page to speed up loading times. As for now though, enjoy the review and feel free to submit your own!
August 8, 2004, 12:00 am Finally archived this page (a little). The result can be seen here for now because I haven't gotten around to creating a proper entry in the menu yet.
July 30, 2004, 12:00 am At long last I return! Finally got settled into placement year and properly recovered from exams so I got no excuses now for not regularily updating!. And my haven't you lot been busy since I was away - the traffic has shot up again!! Always good to see! Well I'm back with a review and the review is for WWF Wrestlemania Arcade and I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it! 53 Reviews now!
April 18, 2004, 12:00 am Added 2 new reviews for GP-1 and Jeopardy! - bringing the total not up to 52 games. Also had a recent visitor spurt - welcome to one and all! Don't be afraid to leave some comments! The site is going to take a back seat for a while though, once again, as exams are approaching. I have still got loads of ideas for it coming up but they all require a lot of design time which I'm simply not going to have until mid-june. There will be a few updates between here and there - just nothing as big as I'd like. Don't be afraid to submit your own review by using the requests section on the left!
April 5, 2004, 12:00 am There goes another review up there - it's T2: The Arcade Game and it's in the Gun Game genre (yup - a new genre there and everything. Decided I should get a review up for a game beginning with every letter of the alphabet to make everything nice and uniform. Jeopardy and GP-1 are also in the pipeline! Stay Tuned for more - there are currently 50 reviews! I think this is possibly the largest snes reviewing resource on the internet.
March 23, 2004, 12:00 am Put up a review for Killer Instinct written by my ever dilligent self and I have been putting a lof of work into this new project - I'm in the worst part of it now and it's about 70% done so it may well be up within the next month but I have a lot of work on at the minute with regard to finding an electronic engineering placement and balancing it with schoolwork and with this site is challenging due to not having the internet at home until this sept. If any reviews are submitted, they will be uploaded in a matter of days. cheats and guides are also welcome. I can unveil that a chart is to be one of the new features to the site - as voted by you and as rated by me so it should prove interesting how your opinions differ from mine - all probably within the next month. Thanks for your support and comments guys!
March 4, 2004, 12:00 am Added review for Super Mario Kart - oo what a classic!! That brings the review total up to 48! Going full steam now! :)
March 3, 2004, 12:00 am Put up a review of Super Turrican - we all have Miguel_The_Machine to thank for that one :). Been trying to put it up for a while now but lycos' MySQL servers are getting really REALLY bad here. As you may have noticed from the lack of speed lately. Sadly I do not know of any other free hosts who support php and sql so I suppose I'll stay here :(. Changed lots of scripts throughout the site to minimalise SQL queries and eliminate them where possible to try and speed this up a bit. And give a big hand to Miguel_The_Machine for an excellent review which can be found here!
February 26, 2004, 12:00 am Updated the links page to eliminate those bad boys who didn't link back to me when they said they would! Also started writing so expect reviews for killer Instinct and Super Mario Kart inside a week! Found out that google appear to have shoved me way down their rating and I'm pretty sure it's because of that ghastly animated ad when the page opens and doesn't let you click anything. Anyway, traffic has, like halved but I resubmitted and tried getting added to a yahoo directory as well so hopefully all will be restored shortly :). Also updated some code in the submission page on the reviews - now when you hit enter in the form, a new line will also be taken in your submission. As long as somebody doesn't carriage return a million times on me, that is (it was the reason i hadn't done it before).
February 22, 2004, 12:00 am Created a form validation script to correct any mistakes in reviews being submitted to stop me getting those blank e-mails as submissions - you know who you are! :-P. Also working hard at this new feature for the site - it's approximately 50% ready now but my system of doing it has speeded up somewhat so in a few weeks it may well be up! Thanks for all your attention!
