Game: Tetris Attack   |   Developers: Intelligent Systems   |   Year: 1996   |   Maximum No. Players: 2

The games title may suggest just another tetris game giving differn't blocks, backgrounds, and music, but it's more than that. Tetris Attack is a game that takes the feel of tetris but applies it in an all new way. Instead of the blocks dropping down for you there already there and they are headed up. You must quickly switch blocks by groups of 2 in a horizontal only way to match up 3 to blow up. Similar to kirbys avalanche you can get combos by blowing up 4 or 5 blocks or creating combos.

The stage portion of the game is enough for an afternoon of challenge for a puzzle player maybe 2 or 3 days for people unfamiliar with the style of gameplay. Though the game probably won't take you long to play threw on 1 player it does offer a great 2 player gaming experience that is great for you and a friend to take a break from the common snes multiplayer fighters like mortal kombat, street fighter and killer instinct (but we all know thats bound to not last too long). If you want a great two player game i'd recommend it, if your looking for a 1 player game this may not occupy you for long.

Nice at first but after an hour of a 30 second or less track looping you may get annoyed.

The hard stages are incredibly difficult and (if you like puzzle games) will keep you playing the same character over and over for a long time. VS mode is frustrating because of the quick time to die once reaching the top (the freeze time). I would disagree with your "enjoyment factor" timescale saying it is more of the opposite (as it is with most good puzzle games) - as you get better (after about a week) the game gets much more enjoyable. If you reversed your timescale I think I would agree. At the outset it's not so good but after you get to know the game it's very hard to put down.
